Hi

I have the following problem, I tried to enable the 2 factor authentication für our super admin, but when I tried to save the changes, I received the follwoing error message:

“Error: A device attached to the system is not functioning”

I then found out, that it has nothing to do with enabling the 2 factor authentication, because it happens every time I hit the “Save” button in the profile, it doesn’t matter if I actually changed anything or not.

What could be the cause and how can I fix this?

BTW: We’re running CloudPanel version 3.2.372.0 on a Windows Server 2022.

Thanks

Roger

That error is actually coming back from Active Directory. We must be trying to set an invalid value that isnt supported in AD for that user. There are certain Active Directory fields that have values that are not supported, like “service” for a SamAccountName (just an example).

Do you think there is anything in any of the fields that may be of question? If you want, you can email the CloudPanel logs files to support@knowmoreit.io and we can take a look at them

Hmmm, I dont think, that there are any unsupported values, it’s the default domain admin account and as far as I remeber, I’ve never changed anything for this user in the AD.

I will mail you the logfiles.

@workbooster we emailed an updated DLL file for you. If you run into any issues, please let us know

Unfortunately the mail containing the dll was blocked by our Anti-Spam and Malware provider, can provide me a download link?

@workbooster We sent you a download link a couple days ago, did it go through?

Hi

I just tried, so here’s what I did and what happened:

1. First I renamed the original CloudPanel.dll to CloudPanel_Old.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Know More IT\CloudPanel\bin\,
then i copied the new dll to the same path and restartet the server (just to be on the save side).
After that, IIS displayed en error message, when I tried to acces the CloudPanel website, I could see, that CloudPanel tried to access the old dll wirh it’s new name CloudPanel_old.dll and couldn’t find some dependencies.

2. So I removed the renamed original dll from the bin folder and tried again to access the website, this time it the site was loading, but the branding was reset to CloudPanel deaults and CloudPanel displayed a version missmatch for the CloudPanel Service.

3. Rolled back the change, as I’m unsure, if this behaviour is expected?

@workbooster Ok, lets update you to 3.2.1002 to resolve this particular issue: https://knowmoreit.io/download/cloudpanel-3-2-1002-0/

If you would like to schedule time for us to assist upgrading and verify it is working, please let us know. The upgrade process is easy, just run the installer over the existing install.

@jdixon After installing 3.2.1002, the branding was (at least partially) reset egain, I had to re-apply it from the Brandin menue. however, I’m now able to save the changes made to the super admin, so the inital problem is solved now.

Thanks.

@workbooster This was resolved in the next release coming out. We are documenting the changes and continuing to work on the testing before publicly releasing.
