Hi Jacob

We’ve always run the scheduler as Administrator. We’d like to move away from that now and use a service account. I’ve created an account and added it to Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins and Organization Management (does it even need all of them?), made sure it has Log on as a Service rights and then tried to start the service but it fails saying

Service cannot be started. The handle is invalid

Any idea what might be wrong?

Thanks a lot!

Sorry to chase but this problem is still ongoing, do you have any ideas please?

Thanks!

@connectsys

I suggest you uninstall it and install it again making sure you are using a recent version. If you choose Windows Authentication then it will test logging into SQL with the account you are running the installer as, but it will use the account set on the Windows service to log into SQL after that. There is also a service log you can send or look at that may include some more details.
