[Solved] Error on Scheduled task since update to last version
Hi,
I recently updated to v.3.2.0335 and since I’m getting spammed by two error messages every 5 minutes. The content of those messages are:
Error retrieving locked out users: System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: Incorrect data à System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException.ThrowCryptographicException(Int32 hr) à System.Security.Cryptography.Utils._DecryptData(SafeKeyHandle hKey, Byte[] data, Int32 ib, Int32 cb, Byte[]& outputBuffer, Int32 outputOffset, PaddingMode PaddingMode, Boolean fDone) à System.Security.Cryptography.CryptoAPITransform.TransformFinalBlock(Byte[] inputBuffer, Int32 inputOffset, Int32 inputCount) à CloudPanel.Settings.SettingsRetrieve.Decrypt(String cipherString, String key) à CloudPanel.Settings.SettingsRetrieve.ReadDecrypt(String key) à CPService.Tasks.ActiveDirectory.ADActions.GetLockedOutUsers() à CPService.Tasks.ActiveDirectory.Get_LockedUsersTask.Execute(IJobExecutionContext context)
Error processing disabled users: System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: Incorrect data System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException.ThrowCryptographicException(Int32 hr) à System.Security.Cryptography.Utils._DecryptData(SafeKeyHandle hKey, Byte[] data, Int32 ib, Int32 cb, Byte[]& outputBuffer, Int32 outputOffset, PaddingMode PaddingMode, Boolean fDone) à System.Security.Cryptography.CryptoAPITransform.TransformFinalBlock(Byte[] inputBuffer, Int32 inputOffset, Int32 inputCount) à CloudPanel.Settings.SettingsRetrieve.Decrypt(String cipherString, String key) à CloudPanel.Settings.SettingsRetrieve.ReadDecrypt(String key) à CPService.Tasks.ActiveDirectory.ADActions.GetDisabledUsers() à CPService.Tasks.ActiveDirectory.Get_DisabledUsersTask.Execute(IJobExecutionContext context)
May there be someone with the same issue or do know from where it comes?
Kind regards and thanks for your time!
Can you stop the service and start it again? Does it do the same thing. I am wondering if the service started before CloudPanel so the updated encryption methods did not execute. Does CloudPanel function correctly?
Hi,
thanks for your answer.
I restarted server / services several times. CloudPanel is working properly, correctly syncing modifications, new users. Didn’t find any issue in it’s functionality. MTA also working properly and so the Exchange services and IIS.
I’ve executed right now a CloudPanel service restart without restarting any other Exchange service. As I keep receiving those error messages every 10 min I wonder I’ts not related to the services startup sequence.
I’l keep in touch if I got any progress before reverting back, but if I’d like to do so what order should I follow?
– Uninstall CloudPanel
– Install the previous version
– Stop CloudPanel service
– Replace database with backup database and backup installation folder
– Start CloudPanel service
Is this a good procedure?
Kind regards,
@lifecloud You shouldn’t have to revert CloudPanel if it is fine. It sounds like the only issue is the CloudPanel Service, correct? Can you zip up the logs folder for both of them and upload them to: https://compsysar.sharefile.com/r-r998fa4eecf0a4254b64aebc82ff6df72
You could be right but as the error appeared after updating I wonder if it could be related to the latest version. Exchange is in AdminDisplayVersion : Version 15.2 (Build 595.3)
I uploaded both log folders to the indicated link.
@lifecloud we updated some of our encryption methods so I think that is the issue. Can you go to the settings in CloudPanel and retype your admin password and save jt? Then try to start the service. If the encryption didn’t update to the new method then it would be on the default method and the service would have issues starting since it only uses the new method. I will take a look at these logs first thing this morning
Your CloudPanel instance looks fine and looks updated. Can you just completely uninstall the service and install it fresh after you try what I mentioned above? You won’t lose any data doing that with the service since it reads everything from the database.
Hi,
I did what you proposed. A complete uninstall of LifeCloud and a reinstall. It preserved database and so all configuration. I tested the correct behaviour of the service creating a new user. It works fine. But I’m still getting those messages with the:
System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException
to the webmaster account every 10 min.
Kind regards,
@lifecloud I am going to have to connect and look then. Does 9am CST work which is in two hours?
