I created a exchange-contact with the emailadress firstname.lastname@domain.com
Mail delivery works fine but when looking at the mail on the recipient side I can see that the recipient adress is:
firstname.lastname{at}domain.com.{companycode}@senderdomain.com

When looking at the contacts in ECP all contacts from all created companies is in that format.
Why is it like this?

I hope you understand what i mean 🙂

It is like that because with contacts all of the PrimarySmtpAddress objects have to be unique. It was decided to create in that format because it leaves it still somewhat readable…. Instead of using like a GUID.

As you get more and more customers you will have that some of them will create contacts for the same person. This is why it has to be unique

Thanks for the explanation.

Btw, did you see my other question regarding changing the emailadress for a contact?

Yes. We are hoping to have that resolved by this weekend in the new release. That field shouldn’t be disabled.
