[Solved] Receiving Error 500 when generating a PDF report but NOT when generating an Excel report
We can generate Excel reports fine, but when we try to generate the same report in PDF format we get an Error 500 on the screen (see screenshot). Any ideas? Fresh install (i.e., no upgrades) of CP 3.1, Exchange 2013, running Server 2012 R2.
Is the Report Viewer 2015 Runtime installed? This is part of the requirements, and you’ll see this issue if it isn’t installed.

Hi,
I did not install 2015 – I followed the instructions on http://knowmoreit.com/getting-started/, which state that Runtime 2012 should be installed. Should I uninstall 2012 and install 2015?
It seems as though there is no clear, definitive updated installation and configuration guide aside from the video that is on http://knowmoreit.com/videos/. I STRONGLY suggest creating an Administrative manual. Now that the focus of the product is geared towards generating revenue via fees (which I am totally fine paying, btw) a written installation and administration manual that my staff can use is a critical “must-have”.

Once report viewer 2015 was installed Rick’s PDF reports were working properly. Thanks Ryan!
Do you have the CloudPanel Service (Scheduler) running in your environment? Also if you could post the logs (keep private or email to support@knowmoreit.com) then we can look further into it.
Yes we do have the scheduler service running (and it is pulling data fine). I’ll send you the logs. Which logs do you want me to send?
Reproduce the issue and send me all of them (in the Logs folder within CloudPanel)
Hi Jacob – I sent them to you via email to the email above – I’ll resent again).
Hi Jason,
So according to rwatson above, I need to install Report Viewer 2015 instead of Report Viewer 2012. Problem is, in order to install that the pre-requisite is to install the CLR types for SQL 2014, and in following the instructions on http://knowmoreit.com/getting-started/ I have a SQL 2012 installation.
So now I’m totally confused – do I now have to do an upgrade to SQL 2014, then install the CLR types for 2014, and then uninstall Report Viewer 2012 and instead install Report Viewer 2015?
I do need reports obviously, and if I have to basically re-do the backbone in order to get them then I will – I haven’t deployed this yet into production so this is the time to rip stuff apart if that’s what’s needed. Please let me know the best way to proceed here. I currently have everything working properly EXCEPT for the PDF reports. Please note that the Excel reports work correctly as far as I can tell.
Rick
Rick you can just install the CLR types and then the 2015 runtime. You do not have to update your entire SQL instance. Download both from the links provided where you downloaded CloudPanel and install then reboot.
That did it – thank you Jason! FYI, I removed Report Viewer 2012 and then installed Report viewer 2015 with no issues. I am still running SQL 2012 Express.
