Anyone,

I have noticed that in the Users area of a company that there is a Import drop down at the top that allows the import of a CSV file. Can anyone explain this a bit more? I would like to have my customers fill out an Excel Spreadsheet of their users that need to be added so that I can save the file as a CSV and import. However, I do not know what the CSV should look like to begin with. I attempted to do an export to see the format, but the export appears to be referencing something that is already in Active Directory.

Is there a way to Import new users that do not have an Active Directory account yet and have CloudPanel create them?

David,

On the import CSV page there is a drop down you can click (says Variables). This lists all the support values that you can use in your CSV that you create. Simply use those as your header value in excel (first row) and put the values under them. Once you are done save to CSV and import into CloudPanel. You will notice some of the columns are required.

So your CSV may look something like this:

DisplayName,Username,Firstname,Lastname,Password,MailboxPlan,Email
Jacob Dixon,jdixon@knowmoreit.com,Jacob,Dixon,Password1,Silver,jdixon@knowmoreit.com
John Doe,jdoe@knowmoreit.com,John,Doe,Password2,Silver,jdoe@knowmoreit.com

If you just want to create the users and no mailboxes then leave off the “MailboxPlan” and “Email”.

Thanks Jacob. That was exactly what I was looking for. I was overlooking the Variables bar as a drop-down. Once I follow you instructions and created the proper file as you described it worked exactly has I expected.

Thanks again,

David

Hi Jacob,

can you add “Email Aliases” to be imported by csv? One would be enough.
I have to change it manualy after the import.
That would help me.
“Modify Email Aliases

Add additional email addresses to this mailbox by typing in the email and pressing enter after each email.

Email Aliases”

Country can’t be imported and can’t be changed and Cloupanel does’nt read it from ADDS

We will be looking into this and should have a resolution Monday.

cloudy,

For the country did you spell out the country or use the abbreviation?

Spell out : Germany, like it es in the drop down menu in Users.
And if I configure it in ADDS it also isn’t used in cloudpanel or vice versa.

But this would be more important for me:
can you add ?Email Aliases? to be imported by csv? One would be enough.

adding it later is a lot of work and has to be double checked for faults.

Please add it to import per csv.

Yes we can add that.

The drop down list of the country shows the country spelled out but it actually just stores the abbreviation. We will look at converting the name of the country to the abbreviation.

Thanks, and what about the alias per csv?

Yes that won’t be a problem. We are also adding it to the new user modal when you create new users.
