We deployed CloudPanel into an existing environment and now that we are starting to use CloudPanel, we would like to import the mailboxes, groups, and public folders for each tenant into CloudPanel. What is the best way to go about this?

We normally perform the migration to make sure everything is good because some steps are manual… but there are some import options you can use to import existing objects in Active Directory into the CloudPanel database.

You can import companies by going to: /CloudPanel/companies/<resellercode>/import

You can import other objects by going to: /CloudPanel/company/<companycode>/import

You will need to make sure the address book policy matches up to the naming scheme CloudPanel uses for Exchange which you can adjust in the settings page (this cannot be changed once you start using it)

Jacob,

Thank you for the reply. When I visit /CloudPanel/companies/<resellercode>/import, I get a 404 error. I replaced the <resellercode> with the 3-letter?company?code for the reseller company.

I can however access?/CloudPanel/company/<companycode>/import

Based on a search of the forum I found this post which provides the following URL to use, which loads the import page:

/CloudPanel/import/<resellercode>

However, there are no companies listed there to import.

Yes i’m sorry… I posted the wrong URL.

CloudPanel is only going to show companies in that Reseller’s OU. So you need to move the OU to that reseller’s OU before they will show up. It also will only show companies that are NOT in the database already

Thank you for the information. Your recommendation worked. However when I clicked import to import the company, I got an error ?Object reference not set to an instance of an object.? and now if I try it again, it says??object already exists?. I am unable to see the company under companies.

I can confirm that I can see 3 OUs (Application, Exchange, and Users) are created, as well as the 3 security groups.

You most likely got the error because the OU’s were missing a value in the uPNSuffixes attribute. This field must be populated when importing because that is where it gets the domains from.

That was it, thank you.

We have posted an article about importing objects into CloudPanel:? http://knowmoreit.com/kb/installation/importing-from-ad/
